Fish & Aqua Feed

Fish feed for ponds and fish farms

Vital Feeds makes fish feed in Pakistan for commercial fish farming: floating and sinking pellets in multiple sizes for Rohu, Tilapia and carp, milled in Arifwala, Punjab. Rations are balanced in protein for more uniform growth in grow-out ponds. This is pond feed, not aquarium food.

In short

Vital Feeds produces floating and sinking fish feed pellets in multiple sizes for Rohu, Tilapia and carp. Floating pellets let you watch the fish feed and stop before anything is wasted, which lowers feed cost and protects pond water quality. Milled in Arifwala, Punjab, Pakistan.

Floating or sinking — which and why

The choice is not cosmetic. It changes how much control you have over feeding, and how much feed you waste.

Floating pellets stay on the surface long enough for you to watch the fish eat. That single fact is their biggest advantage: you can see when the fish stop coming up and stop feeding at that point. Nothing sinks into the mud uneaten, so feed waste and water fouling both fall.

Sinking pellets suit bottom-feeding species and some pond systems, and are usually cheaper to produce. The trade-off is that you cannot see the response, so overfeeding is easy and uneaten feed breaks down in the pond.

Matching pellet size to fish size

A pellet that is too large will not be eaten. One that is too small wastes the fish's energy. As a rule, pellet diameter should be roughly the size of the fish's mouth opening — and it has to change as the crop grows. For fish feed for Rohu in mixed carp ponds, sinking pellets reach the fish that feed in the middle and lower water, while floating pellets suit surface feeders.

Feeding practice that protects your water

  • Feed to response, not to a fixed number. Stop when fish stop actively rising.
  • Watch temperature. Fish are cold-blooded. When water cools, appetite and digestion slow sharply — feeding the same amount just fouls the pond.
  • Use fixed feeding points. Fish learn them, and you can observe intake properly.
  • Never feed into poor oxygen. If fish are at the surface gulping in early morning, that is low oxygen, not hunger. Feeding then makes it worse.

Commercial fish feed for ponds in Pakistan

Our fish farming feed in Pakistan is made for pond owners and fish farms — grow-out of Rohu, Tilapia and carp in commercial and farm ponds — not for aquarium fish. In a pond, feed is usually the biggest running cost, so the aim is simple: as much of every pellet as possible should turn into fish, and as little as possible should end up on the pond bottom.

How much to feed a pond

Work from biomass: estimate fish numbers, net a sample to find the average weight, and multiply. Daily feed is then set as a percentage of body weight that falls as the fish grow. Re-check biomass every two to three weeks, reduce feed when the water cools, and always let the fish's visible response have the final word. Our guide to fish pond feeding rates walks through the method.

Quality and consistency

As one of the fish feed manufacturers in Pakistan that also mills poultry and cattle feed, we use the same process at our Arifwala plant for all three lines: raw materials are checked at intake, rations are formulated, then ground, mixed and pelleted, and finished feed is batch-coded so any bag can be traced back to its batch. Ask the mill on WhatsApp which pellet sizes are in stock for your stage.

Questions

Common questions

Should I use floating or sinking fish feed?
Floating pellets let you watch the fish eat and stop when they stop rising, which cuts waste and protects water quality. Sinking pellets suit bottom-feeding species and some pond systems, but overfeeding is harder to spot.
Which fish is Vital Feeds fish feed for?
It is made for Rohu, Tilapia and carp in commercial grow-out ponds in Pakistan, including polyculture ponds.
What pellet size should I use?
Roughly the size of the fish's mouth opening, increasing as the crop grows: crumble or very small pellets for fry, small pellets for fingerlings, then medium and larger pellets for grow-out and finishing.
How much should I feed my pond each day?
Work out biomass from fish numbers and the average weight of a netted sample, then feed a percentage of body weight that falls as the fish grow. Reduce feed in cooler water and stop when fish stop actively rising.
Should I feed fish that are gulping at the surface in the morning?
No. Fish gulping at the surface in early morning usually means low oxygen, not hunger. Feeding then makes it worse.
What is the price of fish feed in Pakistan?
Rates change with raw-material costs and freight, so we do not print them. Message the mill on WhatsApp at 0311 1555136 for today's rate and the pellet sizes in stock, or ask your Vital Feeds dealer; our feed rate page explains what moves the rate.
