Cattle & Dairy Feed

Feed that shows up in the milk

Vital Feeds makes cattle feed in Pakistan at its Arifwala mill: dairy vanda for milking buffalo and cows, fattening feed for beef cattle and calf grower feed for young stock. The dairy rations are high-energy, balanced to support milk yield and fat percentage while keeping the animal in condition.

In short

Vital Feeds produces cattle and dairy feed in Arifwala, Punjab — dairy vanda (wanda) for milking buffalo and cows, fattening feed for beef cattle, and calf grower for young stock. Concentrate is fed alongside green fodder to supply the energy, protein and minerals fodder alone cannot deliver.

Why concentrate matters alongside fodder

Green fodder is the base of almost every dairy operation in Punjab, and it should be. But fodder alone rarely carries a high-yielding animal through peak lactation. Fresh green fodder is bulky and high in water — the animal fills up before she has eaten enough energy and protein to support the milk she is capable of producing.

That gap is what a concentrate closes. A balanced vanda delivers energy, protein, minerals and vitamins in a small volume, so the animal can physically consume what she needs. Farms that feed maize silage still need a concentrate to balance protein and minerals; tell the mill what silage you use and we will suggest how much of our feed to add.

What happens when the ration is short

  • Milk drops first, then body condition. A cow short on energy will milk off her own back, losing weight and becoming harder to get back in calf.
  • Fat percentage moves. Very finely chopped fodder or too little effective fibre depresses butterfat.
  • Minerals are invisible until they are not. Calcium, phosphorus and trace minerals show up as poor fertility and weak calves long before anyone connects it to feed.

Feeding practice that protects the rumen

  • Introduce concentrate gradually. A sudden jump acidifies the rumen, kills intake and can cause serious illness.
  • Split the daily amount. Two or three feeds beat one large meal.
  • Keep long fibre in the diet. Chewing produces saliva, which buffers the rumen.
  • Water is part of the ration. A milking buffalo can drink well over 100 litres a day. Restricted water restricts milk.

Which ration for which animal

Each Vital Feeds cattle ration has one job. Pick by the animal in front of you, not by the bag your neighbour uses. Buffalo feed and cow feed start from the same base, good green fodder, and the table below shows which concentrate goes on top.

Our fattening feed for cattle is for young bulls being grown for meat or Eid sale, fed together with green fodder, straw or silage.

How much concentrate to feed

Feed the yield, not the herd. Giving every animal the same scoop overfeeds the low yielders and underfeeds the best ones. A common working rule for milking buffalo is roughly 1 kg of concentrate for every 2 to 2.5 litres of milk, on top of good green fodder — adjusted to the individual animal, her condition and the quality of the fodder. Our guide on how to increase buffalo milk yield explains the method step by step, and the dairy vanda page covers feeding through the lactation curve.

Quality you can check on delivery

As a maker of cattle and dairy feed in Pakistan, supplying dairy and livestock farmers across central Punjab, we test incoming raw material before it enters the mill and batch-code finished feed so any bag can be traced. On delivery, the feed should smell fresh and grain-like, never musty or sour, with consistent colour and texture through the bag and a visible batch code. See quality and lab testing.

Questions

Common questions

What cattle feed does Vital Feeds make?
Three rations: dairy vanda for milking buffalo and cows, fattening feed for beef cattle on a finishing programme, and calf grower for young stock and replacement heifers.
Can concentrate replace green fodder?
No. Green fodder stays the base of the diet. Concentrate supplies the energy, protein and minerals that fodder cannot deliver in the volume an animal can physically eat, especially in early lactation.
How much vanda should I feed a buffalo?
A common working rule is roughly 1 kg of concentrate for every 2 to 2.5 litres of milk, alongside green fodder, adjusted to the animal's condition and the quality of the fodder. Build up to that amount gradually.
How quickly should I introduce a new concentrate?
Over one to two weeks, never in one step. A sudden increase drops rumen pH, kills appetite and can cause acidosis. Split the daily amount into two or three feeds.
What is the price of cattle feed in Pakistan?
Rates change with raw-material costs and freight, so we do not print them. Message the mill on WhatsApp at 0311 1555136 for today's rate on vanda, fattening feed or calf grower, or ask your Vital Feeds dealer; our feed rate page explains what moves the rate.
Do you supply cattle feed dealers?
Yes. We supply dealers across central Punjab from our Arifwala mill. See the dealers page or message the mill on WhatsApp with your area.
